Hello Network,

We have been away from blogging for some time now, and we are sorry. We, at OTTS, Inc., promise to get back to blogging on issues we feel are important. Being busy is no excuse! There is a lot of information to share and discuss. We, at OTTS, Inc., have seen a lot this past year, and we have concluded that a lot of companies need support in building a world-class supply chain network. Why? Because the companies have people in leadership positions that really don’t know what it takes to build a world-class supply chain network. Seriously!

It should be stated that many professionals who are currently leaders/managers in supply chain have no clue about what should be a metric/KPI to measure their operations in order to know if they are making progress, such as with reducing cost, increasing service levels, and managing change efficiently. What’s so amazing is that many of the leaders we see in the supply chain arena have degrees from great universities. It appears to us that they must have had bad mentors.

No clue about:

What is the company’s spend versus the revenue generated?

Inventory accuracy (extremely weak)

On-time delivery

Service fill rates

How to do SOP’s and value streaming

Why the "out-of-the-box" ERP systems make managing a supply chain cumbersome (one of the biggest challenges that we see on a weekly basis)

We at OTTS could go on

One of the first subjects that we need to cover the differences between master scheduling, supply chain planning, and demand planning. A lot of companies or perhaps, we should say, a lot of leaders in the companies confuse these distinct functions, which leads to excessive inventory, stock outs, less than excellent service fill rates. Thus, they have a poor mode-mix and an extremely poor-in-demand management.

If your company or operation is struggling with planning  functions, master scheduling, supply chain planning, and demand management, you shouldn’t hesitate to call us at 1-888-410-6687 or drop us a line at Connect with OTTS.
